About Steve

“Steve Bonesz is a debut novelist, master woodworker, and lifelong creative based in the Chicago suburbs of Illinois. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Graphic Communication and a licensed Airframe and Powerplant mechanic certificate, a combination that reflects less a linear career path than an insatiable curiosity about how things work, whether they are made of wood, words, or aircraft engines.

Over the course of his working life, Steve has been a graphic artist, a printing company sales representative, a marketing manager, and the owner of a custom cabinetry business. He is now retired and writes full time. He came to fiction writing later in life and has described it as one of the most consuming and rewarding pursuits he has ever undertaken.

His novels sit at the intersection of speculative fiction and spiritual inquiry, following ordinary men confronted with extraordinary circumstances that force them to reckon with questions of faith, purpose, and what it means to be chosen for something larger than themselves.

Steve is an avid reader of science fiction, ancient archaeology, and biblical history. His literary influences include Jules Verne, Andy Weir, Isaac Asimov, and William P. Young. Outside of writing and woodworking, his hobbies include oil and watercolor painting, model train collecting, motorcycle riding, camping in national parks, boating, snow skiing, and running. He is the author of two completed novels and is currently at work on a third.”

“Steve is an active member of his local Writers Workshop at his library and his church book club, where his novels are currently being read and discussed.”
